In the days of ancient times, when gods ruled the earth and mythological creatures roamed the lands, ruled the seas, and reigned from the skies, the magnificent Phaya Naga existed. According to northern legend, this formidable serpentine creature, a symbol of strength, opulence, and eternal life, helped the righteous Kings in building the city. As an act of allegiance and obedience, the Naga endowed the kings with vast wealth and power, and thus safeguarding the prosperity of the land. A guardian of the Buddha and protector of earthly waters, the Naga exhibited magical powers that allowed it to take human semblance. Drawing inspiration from this mystical creature, De Naga Chiang Mai displays an array of Naga throughout the hotel in the form of statues, ornaments and various decorative details. สถานที่แห่งนี้เดิมทีเคยเป็นโรงแรมมาก่อนชื่อว่า โรงแรมสายตำ โดยตั้งชื่อตามเจ้าของที่ดินเดิมตั้งแต่แรกคือพระยาสายตำ เมื่อเราซื้อที่ดินแปลงนี้มา เรามีความรู้สึกว่า ที่ดินแปลงนี้มีความเก่าแก่และเคยผ่านความเจริญรุ่งเรืองมาเป็นเวลานาน ถ้าจะทำการพัฒนาโครงการอะไรบนที่ดินแปลงนี้ก็น่าจะเป็นโครงการที่มีความประณีตและสวยงาม เนื่องจากว่า ในอดีตนั้นบริเวณท่าแพเป็นที่รู้กันทั่วไปอยู่แล้วว่า เป็นที่อยู่อาศัยของคหบดี พ่อค้าและคนมีฐานะ เป็นชุมชนเก่าแก่ของจังหวัดเชียงใหม่ เป็นท่าเรือ และบริเวณทำการค้าขาย หากดูตามทักษาเมือง บริเวณนี้ถูกวางให้เป็นแหล่งทำการค้าขาย

เนื่องจากที่ดินแปลงนี้ไม่ติดถนนใหญ่ แต่บริเวณรอบๆที่ดินนี้ถูกล้อมรอบเต็มไปด้วยบ้าน ห้องแถวและอาคารพานิชย์ เมื่อเริ่มโครงการเรามีความตั้งใจจะทำธุรกิจโรงแรมอยู่แล้ว โดยมีความคิดว่าต้องทำรูปแบบอาคารก่อสร้างให้เป็นสถาปัตยกรรมของท้องถิ่นล้านนาตามวัฒนธรรมของเชียงใหม่ ให้มีความน่าสนใจ มีความโดดเด่น และภายในโครงการต้องมีบรรยากาศที่ร่มเย็น เงียบสงบ เหมาะสำหรับการพักผ่อน โดยสร้างความรู้สึกเหมือนกับการมาพักผ่อนที่บ้านหลังที่ ๒ ของเราเองมากกว่าการพักค้างคืนเหมือนไปอยู่ตามโรงแรมทั่วไป ดังนั้นเราจึงอยากสร้างให้โรงแรมนี้เป็นเหมือนเมืองลับแล ที่มีความสวยงาม มีเอกลักษณ์ของตัวเอง ใครเห็นแล้วต้องชื่นชอบ และชื่นชม และที่สำคัญสำหรับการเป็นเมืองลับแล คือคนผ่านไปมาอาจจะมองเห็นจากด้านหน้าถนนใหญ่ หรืออาจจะมองไม่เห็นก็ได้ สำหรับคนที่มองเห็นได้ก็คือคนที่ worthy to stay in our hotel

เมื่อได้รูปแบบและแนวความคิดแล้ว ก็มาถึงการตั้งชื่อของโรงแรมที่จะเป็นตัวกำหนด theme ของโรงแรม
ทำไมถึงตั้งชื่อว่า De Naga? ซึ่งแปลว่า แห่งนาค หรือ ของนาค

เราจะเห็นว่านาคกับคนไทยเป็นสิ่งที่คุ้นเคยกันอยู่แล้ว โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่ง อารยธรรมในแถบภาคเหนือของประเทศไทย ซึ่งแต่เดิมเรียกว่าอาณาจักรโยนก หรือล้านนา ตามตำนานสิงหนวัติซึ่งเป็นตำนานเก่าแก่ของภาคเหนือ เมื่อเจ้าชายสิงหนวัติอพยพผู้คนมาจากทางตอนใต้ของประเทศจีน เมื่อเดินทางมาถึงบริเวณทางภาคเหนือของประเทศไทยในปัจจุบัน มีพญานาคได้แปลงกายมาช่วยชี้ที่ตั้งสำหรับเมืองใหม่ และขอให้เจ้าชายสิงหนวัติปกครองเมืองโดยให้อยู่ในทศพิธราชธรรม พอตกกลางคืนพญานาคก็ขึ้นมาสร้างเมืองให้ จึงตั้งชื่อเมืองนี้ว่านาคพันธุ์สิงหนวัติ เวลาต่อมาพระเจ้าสิงหนวัติทรงปราบปรามศัตรูและรวบรวมดินแดนเข้าด้วยกัน แล้วเปลี่ยนชื่อเป็นแคว้นโยนกนาคนคร ซึ่งเป็นต้นราชวงศ์ของพญาเม็งรายผู้ทรงสร้างเมืองเชียงใหม่ ดังนั้นเราจึงเห็นได้ว่านาค กับอาณาจักรล้านนา เป็นสิ่งที่เกี่ยวข้องกันมาช้านานแล้ว

นาค หรือพญานาค คือ งูใหญ่มีหงอนสีทอง ตาสีแดง เกล็ดเหมือนปลาสีเขียว สีดำ หรือ มีเจ็ดสี นาคนั้นมีหลายชนิด แบบนาคเศียรเดียว นาคสามเศียร นาคห้าเศียร นาคเจ็ดเศียร หรือนาคเก้าเศียร ตามตระกูลที่สูงขึ้นตามลำดับ นาคจำพวกนี้จะสืบเชื้อสายมาจากพญาเศษนาค(อนันตนาคราช) ผู้เป็นบัลลังก์ของพระวิษณุนารายณ์ปรมนาท ณ เกษียรสมุทร ซึ่งพญานาคมีความสามารถแปลงกายเป็นอะไรก็ได้

อีกนัยหนึ่ง พญานาค เป็นสัญลักษณ์แห่งความยิ่งใหญ่ ความอุดมสมบูรณ์ ความมีวาสนา และเป็นบันไดสายรุ้งสู่จักรวาล
พญานาคในทางพุทธศาสนา ยังเป็นผู้ปกป้องและคอยพิทักษ์รักษาพระพุทธเจ้า นาคส่วนใหญ่มักจะถือศีลแปด และมีจิตใจฝักไฝ่ในธรรมะ ดังนั้นเราจะเห็นว่านาคก็ยังถือศีลสูงกว่ามนุษย์ปุถุชนอย่างเราๆเสียอีก

จากเรื่องราวดังที่กล่าวมาแล้วข้างต้นเกี่ยวกับนาค เราจึงเห็นว่าชื่อ De Naga นี้น่าจะเหมาะเป็นชื่อสำหรับโรงแรม

เมื่อได้ชื่อโรงแรมว่า De Naga แล้ว เราก็ขอเอานาคมาเป็น theme ในการตกแต่งโรงแรม
รูปแบบสถาปัตยกรรมของโรงแรมนั้น เราต้องการให้เป็นแบบล้านนา จะห็นได้จากลักษณะของทรงหลังคาและปราสาทเฟื้องที่สันหลังคา การยกตัวล็อบบี้ขึ้นมาไว้ชั้นสอง ก็คือการยกพื้นของบ้านเรือนล้านนาสมัยก่อนที่สร้างบ้านให้มีใต้ถุนอยู่ข้างล่าง

เมื่อใช้นาคเป็น Theme สำหรับการก่อสร้าง ทุกสิ่งที่สามารถทำเป็นเส้นโค้งได้เราจะทำ เพราะนาค หรืองู ไม่เลื้อยเป็นเส้นตรงแน่

เอาล่ะเราจะมาเริ่มพาเข้าสู่โรงแรมเลย
ตอนนี้คุณอยู่ที่หน้าโรงแรมเมื่อมองเข้ามาในโรงแรมคุณจะเห็นว่ากระบะปลูกต้นไม้สองข้างทางเข้าโรงแรมมีลักษณะเป็นคลื่นโค้งเหมือนการเลื้อยของนาค หรือคลื่นในมหาสมุทร ยามค่ำคืน แสงไฟเปล่งแสงวาววับจากด้านในโรงแรมจะให้ความรู้สึกว่านี่ต้องเป็นเมืองลับแลแน่ๆ เพราะรอบด้านเป็นอาคารพาณิชย์และบ้านสมัยใหม่ทั้งนั้น แล้วอยู่ดีๆก็มีสถาปัตยกรรมแบบล้านนาเหมือนเมืองหนึ่งหรือ เหมือนคุ้มผุดขึ้นมาท่ามกลางหมู่อาคารเหล่านั้น เชื่อเถอะว่าต้องมีคนอยากเดินเข้ามาดูให้รู้แน่ว่าสิ่งที่เขามองเห็นนี้คืออะไร บ่อยครั้งที่เราเห็นคนเดินเข้ามาดูหรือถามว่า สถานที่นี้คืออะไร
ตุงกระด้างที่เราปักไว้สองข้างทางเข้านั้นก็เพราะมีความเชื่อว่าตุงของล้านนาหรือของพม่านี้ คลี่คลายมาจากพญานาค หรือบันไดสู่สวรรค์ (Symbolically that our hotel is heaven) ตุงกระด้างนี้ทำเป็นเรื่องสิบสองนักษัตร และราศีเกิดของเจ้าของโรงแรมและครอบครัว indicate that we want to serve and give our guests the best hospitality.

บ่อพญานาค และ ศาลพระนารายณ์ เราต้องการสร้างให้เปรียบเสมือนว่า บ่อน้ำนี้คือ เกษียรสมุทร (ทะเลน้ำนม) เกษียรสมุทรนี้เป็นที่ประทับของพระนารายณ์ซึ่งมีพญาอนันตนาคราชเป็นพระแท่นบรรทม เราจึงสร้างบ่อน้ำให้เป็นสีขาวเหมือนสีของน้ำนม มีนาคขดตัวรอบบ่อ บริเวณรอบๆเราปลูกต้นไม้ให้ร่มครึ้ม เพราะต้องการให้ได้ความรู้สึกว่านี่คือป่าหิมพานต์ ต้นไม้สูงที่ปลูกบังตึกแถว เราเลือกต้นบุนนาค บุนนาคพ้องเสียงกับนาค นอกจากนั้นยังมีความเชื่อทางศาสนาว่า ในอนาคตกาลพระพุทธเจ้าพระองค์ใหม่คือพระศรีอริยเมศไตรยจะมาตรัสรู้ใต้ต้นบุนนาค ซึ่งเชื่อกันว่าหากท่านเสด็จมาตรัสรู้ใต้ต้นบุนนาคของบ้านใด คนในบ้านนั้นก็จะได้รับอานิสงค์จากการนั้นให้ประสบแต่ความสุข ความเจริญ ซึ่งเราก็แอบหวังว่าถ้าเกิดเหตุการณ์เช่นนั้นบังเกิดขึ้นจริง พวกเราทุกคนที่อยู่ในโรงแรมก็จะได้รับบุญนั้นด้วย

ราวบันใดทางขึ้นล็อบบี้เราทำเป็นหางวัน ลักษณะโค้งติดกระจกสี ถ้าเป็นช่วงเช้าแดดที่ส่องกระทบกระจก สะท้อนแสงให้เห็นเป็นเกร็ดแวววาวเหมือนเกร็ดนาค ไม่เชื่อก็ตื่นเช้าหน่อยมาคอยดูก็ได้นะจ๊ะ

ภายในล็อบบี้ เราใส่สัญลักษณ์ของนาคไว้เยอะมาก เริ่มตั้งแต่มือจับประตูสำริดรูปนาค โคมไฟห้อยแผ่นทองเหลืองฉลุลายนาคกลางห้อง โต๊ะรีเซฟชั่นประดับด้วยไม้แกะสลัก ลวดลายคานไม้แกะและฉลุลายบนเพดาน โคมไฟคู่ตั้งบนโต๊ะ กระจกด้านหลังโต๊ะรีเซฟชั่นออกแบบให้เป็นเกร็ดนาค รายละเอียดทั้งหมดล้วนออกแบบเฉพาะให้มีความเกี่ยวข้องกับนาคทั้งสิ้น
ภาพวาดที่แขวนหน้าห้องน้ำ และในห้องน้ำ เป็นภาพวาดชุมชนนาคในเมืองบาดาล ซึ่งที่นั่นนาคจะมีรูปลักษณ์เป็นคน แต่จะแอบแฝงด้วยการมีสัญลักษญ์ของนาคไว้บนสิ่งต่างๆ เช่นที่ปิ่นปักผม กำไลที่แขนของหญิงสาว รอยสักบนตัวผู้ชาย
สังเกตดูในห้องน้ำชายเราใส่ภาพวาดผู้หญิงที่แอบมองลงมาใบหน้าบอกความรู้สึกกึ่งอายกึ่อยากรู้ มันให้ความรู้สึกดูขำๆดี และเพื่อให้ความรู้สึก เหมือน peeping tom
ส่วนห้องน้ำหญิงเราใส่ภาพวาดผู้ชายเจ้าชู้กำลังจีบหญิงสาว ให้ความรู้สึกขำๆอีกเช่นกัน

Swimming pool เราสมมุติให้สระว่ายน้ำเป็นมหานทีสีทันดรที่นาคา นาคี มาเล่นน้ำ เวลาที่นาคขึ้นมาจากนาคพิภพ จะเห็นได้จากงานศิลปะวัสดุไฟเบอร์หล่อ รูปนูนต่ำ (bas relief) ที่เป็นรูปนาคหญิง และนาคชายที่ติดโชว์ไว้ที่ผนังน้ำตกบริเวณสระว่ายน้ำ

Court yard พื้นที่บริเวณบ่อนาคน้ำพุกลางอาคารชั้นสอง เราเรียกว่า lover’s court เพื่อให้เป็น court แห่งความรัก เราสร้างบ่อน้ำพุมีงานประติมากรรมปูนปั้นนาค ๒ ตัว เป็นนาคหญิง และนาคชาย ขดรอบบ่อน้ำ ถ้ามองดูให้ดีจะเห็นนาคชายกำลังไล่ตามจีบนาคหญิง courting (จีบกัน) สังเกตุนาคชายดูได้จากเขาที่เศียร ส่วนแสงไฟที่เราใส่ในบ่อน้ำพุนาคนี้เป็นสีแดง เพราะสีแดงคือสีแห่งความรัก

สัตตภัณฑ์ที่ติดไว้ที่ผนังน้ำตก คือเชิงเทียน คนมีฐานะในสมัยก่อนในแถบล้านนามักจะทำสัตตภัณฑ์ถวายวัดเป็นพุทธบูชา นอกจากนั้นสัตตภัณฑ์ ยังหมายถึงภูเขาทั้งเจ็ดที่ล้อมรอบภูเขาพระสุเมรุที่มหาเทพศิวะสถิต ทำให้ imply ได้ว่าขณะนี้ our guests staying in heaven.

ภายในห้องพัก เราเลือกสีแดง และ สีเขียวเป็น scheme สีของงานตกแต่ง เพราะโดยธรรมชาติของนาค สีแดงคือพิษและความร้อนในกายของนาค ส่วนสีเขียวหมายถึงสีของเกร็ดนาค กระจกจือชิ้นเล็กๆที่ประดับในห้องพักสีเขียวหรือในล็อบบี้ก็คือเกร็ดนาคนั่นเอง

ภายในห้องสวีท theme นาคก็ยังเป็นสิ่งที่เราหยิบยกนำมาใช้ในงานตกแต่ง ไม่ว่าจะเป็นที่หัวเตียงซึ่งเป็นงานปั้นปูนติดกระจกสีแบบโบราณ ประดับกระจกอังวะ(กระจกจือ) จึงได้งานศิลปะออกมาเป็นนาคที่สง่างามกำลังเริงเล่นอยู่ในท้องมหานที ส่วนภาพวาดปิดทองหน้าห้องน้ำและในห้องน้ำเป็นเรื่องราวของนาคกำลังคายดอกบัวบ่งบอกถึงความสุข ความเจริญที่นาคสามารถบันดาลให้ได้

ภายในลิฟท์ ทั้ง 2 ตัว ตกแต่งด้วยงานศิลป์พ่นกระจกฝ้าเรื่องราวเกี่ยวกับนาคในตำนานพุทธศาสนา เป็นเรื่องตอนที่นาคมาขอบวชกับพระพุทธเจ้า ตอนที่ขอบวชนั้นนาคแปลงร่างเป็นคน หลังจากที่นาคได้บวชแล้ว เมื่อนอนหลับตื่นขึ้นมาร่างของนาคได้เปลี่ยนกลับเป็นนาค จึงทำให้ไม่สามารถบวชต่อไปได้เพราะนาคไม่ใช่มนุษย์ นาคก็ยอมสึกแต่ขอว่า ต่อไปใครที่จะบวชจะขอให้ถวายคำว่านาค เพื่อเป็นอนุสรณ์ในความศรัทธาของนาค

ปูนปั้นนาคที่พาดพันตามเสา แล้วมองลงมาด้านล่างนั้น เป็นการแสดงให้เห็นว่า ไม่ว่าคุณจะอยู่ที่ใดภายในโรงแรมนี้ พญานาคจะคอยดูแลปกป้องคุณตลอดเวลา

ถ้ามีเวลาศึกษาเกี่ยวกับ mythology ของนาคแล้ว เราจะพบว่านาคมีความยิ่งใหญ่ ลี้ลับ น่าค้นคว้า มากทีเดียว พญานาคจึงไม่ใช่สิ่งที่น่ากลัวเลย

เรามีความรู้สึกเช่นนั้น และอยากแบ่งปันสิ่งดีงามที่ยิ่งใหญ่ น่าค้นหานี้กับแขกของเรา สัญลักษณ์และงานตกแต่งนาคตามที่ต่างๆที่เราทำขึ้นในโรงแรมนั้นมีที่มาที่ไปทั้งสิ้น มิได้ใส่เข้าไปเพียงลอยๆ หรือ เพียงให้มีมากมายโดยไร้จุดมุ่งหมาย

The Story of De Naga Hotel

In the previous time, this land used to be hotel which its name “Sai Tum Hotel”. The name was given by following the name of the first owner, Sir Sai Tum.

When the recent owner bought this land, they felt that this property was wealth prosperity in the ancient time. If there would be any projects on this land, it would be the project which will be delicate and splendid.

The reason is in the past “Tae Pae” was well known as the residence area of merchant and wealthy individuals. It was an old port of Chiang Mai where there were the trading activities around this area.

Even though, the land was not located exactly at the main road but it was surrounded with houses, flats and business buildings. At the beginning of project, it was planned that there will be the hotel business here. The concept of architecture was lanna northern style in accordance to Chiang Mai’s culture. The architecture should be dominant and unique and provide the peaceful and calm atmosphere which will be suitable for relaxing and create the feeling of second home, not a simple overnight as general hotel. Therefore, the overall concept was similar to a mysterious township which is unique and splendid. As it is a mysterious township so the passing people may see from the main road or may not be visible. For the people who can notice our hotel is considered to be the people who are worthy to stay in our hotel and this is the general concept of the hotel.

Therefore, the concept of construction will lead the name and theme of the hotel. People are frequently asks why “De Naga” which mean “At Naga” or “Of Naga” was given to be the name of hotel.

Generally, Thai people are familiar to Naga, especially, the northern civilization of Thailand which in the ancient time called Domain of Yonok or in the other name “Lanna”. According to the legend of Singhonlawat , the old legend of northern people, Prince Singhonlawat immigrated people from the south of China and when he arrived the recent North of Thailand, there was a Naga transformed to be human being and pointed the location of new town and asked Prince Singhonlawat to govern the city with King Right Principles and during night Naga will come to construct city and named it “Naga Phun Singholawat”. King Singhonlawat attacked enemies and united territory under his governor and changed its name to Region of “Yonok Naga Nakorn” which was the beginning of royal family of King Meng Rai who built Chiang Mai City. Therefore, it is noticeable that Naga and Lanna Region were related to each other since long time ago.

Naga is giant serpent with golden crest, red eyes, green or black or rainbow scaly skin. There are many types of Naga which were Single Headed Naga, Triple Headed Naga, Five headed Naga, Seven headed Naga, or Nine headed Naga according to level of lineage. Naga which is the lineage of King of Naga (AnantraNaga) was the throne of Vishnu Narayana Prarumanat (The Hindu God) which lived at vortex of the ocean where Naga can transform to anything

On the other hand, Naga was the symbol of elegance, wealth prosperity, and the good fortune and also it could represent to the rainbow stairs which leads to the universe. In term of Buddhism, Naga can be considered as the god guardian. The reason is generally Naga respects and pay attention to the teaching of Buddha more than mankind

According to the above legend concerning Naga, the name of hotel was given as “De Naga” which is the most appropriate name for this hotel.

When the name was given, then we were thinking about decoration theme. The architecture of hotel was adapted to Lanna style. This style can be seen from the roof of the hotel which was designed in form of Thai northern style tower with the tip on the top of roof. The technique of lifting main lobby to the second storey provides the space under the building similar to the old Lanna style house.

Naga is chosen to be the main concept, therefore any design or decorations are in form of curve, similar to the crawling of Naga or Serpent







Let’s visit our hotel

Now, you are standing in front of our hotel. When you walk from the entrance, you will see the planted trays in form of curve, similar to crawling of Naga or the ocean wave during night, along the walking way to the main building.

The lights which are brightly illuminated from the building create the feeling of mysterious township. Moreover, when you see all the commercial buildings and modern style houses surrounded, suddenly your eyes will be catch to the Lanna Style architecture and create the felling like you are in the other town or a township which rise up in the middle of modern style architecture. It is certain that passing people will be curious to walk inside and prove what they have seen. Frequently, we have some visitors who asked the same question what is this place.

Northern flags which were pitched along the entrance way were from the belief that the Lanna flag or Burma flag came from Naga which mean the pave to the heaven. On the other hand, it can be said that when you walk pass the lanna flags, you will arrive the heaven (symbolically that our hotel is the heaven)

The northern flags were described the story of twelve signs of the Zodiac, include the zodiac of owner and family members which speak that they want to serve and give the guests the best hospitality.

Naga Pond and Naraya God Fountain represent to the vortex of Milky Sea which was the residence of Naraya where the King of Naga was his sleeping throne. That is the reason why the pond was constructed in white, similar to the color of milk and having Naga curled themselves around the pond. The trees were planted around the pond to create the shade and simulate the Himma Parn Forest (Thai Fairy Tale Forest)

“Bun Nag” was the high tree which was chosen to be the cover of surrounded commercial buildings. “Bun Nag” has the similar pronunciation with “Naga” in Thai. Moreover, there are some religious beliefs that in the future the new Buddha will be “Phra Sri-ariyamettrai” who will be enlightened under “Bun Nag” tree. Therefore, if the beliefs would come truth, when “Phra Sri-ariyamettrai” will be enlightened under the “Bun Nag” tree of any houses, the residents of houses will obtain merit and will gain success and happiness for all their life. The stair-rails which lead to the main lobby was designed in form of curved tail, decorated with stained glasses. During morning, the sunshine reflects the stained glasses to look like the scale of Naga

Lobby
In the lobby, the Naga symbol were the main decoration, starting with bronze Naga door handle, bronze large lamp Naga fretwork, hanging in the center of lobby room, reception desk was sculptured in form of Naga scale. All the decoration details were designed in relating to Naga.

The painting in and in front of public toilets were Naga community under water world where Naga were in form of human being but having symbol of Naga in other things for example a pin for a topknot, bracelet, tattoo. It is noticeable that in the male toilet, there will be female painting who steal a glance which presents the shyness and curiosity on her face. This creates sense of humour. In female toilet, the painting was described a man who were flirting lady which also has intention to create sense of humour as well.

Swimming Pool was assumed to be “Maha Natee Sritundon” (Ocean of Sritundon) where Naga (male) and Nagee (female) enjoy swimming when they come from their own residence. It can be seen from the statue of Naga and Nagee in form of bas relief, presented at the wall waterfall at swimming pool area

Court Yard

The area which locates at the center of second storey of the building called “Lover’s Court”. In order to be the court of lover, the fountain pond was constructed with a couple of Naga sculptures curled themselves around the pond. If you look carefully at the head of Naga (male naga), it seems he is trying to flirt Nagee (female naga). The red light was chosen at this pond because red is the colour of love.

The decorated item, called “Sattrapun” (an item built for the purpose of donation to the temple) at the fountain wall was candlesticks. In the ancient time, it was believed that the wealthy individual will offer this kind of items to the temple. In addition, “Sattrapun” means seven mountains which surrounded mountain of “Phra Sumeru” where God of Siva resided. On the other hand, it could imply that our guests stay in heaven.

In the rooms, the red and green were chosen as the decoration theme. The reasons were generally red represents the poison and heat of Naga while green represents scale of Naga. Therefore, the stained glasses in green color both in the room and lobby are the scale of Naga as well

In the Suites Room, Naga’ s theme was selected to be the main decoration of suites room. This includes the Naga sculpture, decorated with antique stained glasses, attached at the wall over the bed which produced the fine art with Naga figure, playing in the ocean. For the painting which covered with gold in front of bathroom and inside the bathroom are Naga which disgorged lotus, represent the happiness and wealthy

Inside the two elevators were decorated by the technique of spray paint into frosted glass. The painting presented the story of Naga in the Buddhism Legend while Naga requested Buddha to enter the priesthood. At that time, Naga transformed himself to human being and after priesthood he transformed back to Naga then he could not continue the priesthood’s life because he was not human being. Naga accepted to leave the priesthood with the condition that if anyone would like to entering to priesthood will then be called “Nag” (in Thai) as the memorial of his faith in Buddha’s teaching.

Naga sculpture which leaned along the column of each floor and looking below represent that wherever you are in this hotel, Naga will always protect you.

All decoration and symbol in this hotel were not for just showing but everything is meaningful and if you study mythology of Naga, you will find that Naga is elegant and mysterious and it is not something miserable at all. We are proud to share the precious story of De Naga to our guest.
